Job summary

Fulton Hogan is seeking a Surfacing Estimator for our Infrastructure Services team in Townsville. You will support expanding our work portfolio across Northern Queensland and contribute to pre-contract work with an estimating track record.

Ideal candidates bring project management experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of estimating software such as Benchmark. A willingness to engage with onsite tender briefings is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in estimating road surfacing (asphalt or spray seal) is advantageous.
  • Strong communication with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of estimating software such as Benchmark is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare first-principles estimates for asphalt and spray seal works.
  • Manage tender processes from start to finish and review tender docs.
  • Coordinate and issue subcontractor/supply pricing packages.
  • Attend onsite tender briefings and site visits as required.

What's on offer?

An exciting opportunity has presented for a Surfacing Estimator to join our Infrastructure Services team based in Townsville. Reporting to the Estimating Manager - Northern Queensland (NQ), you will be working to support the team in expanding our work portfolio and project opportunities throughout NQ.

We are seeking a self-motivated professional, ideally someone with Project Management experience who may be looking to put their skills to use in the pre-contract space, with an Estimating track record or someone who is looking to expand their career in Estimating and/or a Site/Project Engineer seeking a career change.

Your contribution:

  • Undertaking first principals estimates for asphalt and spray seal works.
  • Managing the tender process from start to finish.
  • Reviewing all tender documentation.
  • Co-ordinating and sending out subcontractor/supply pricing packages
  • Attending onsite tender briefings/site visits as required
  • Preparing risk and opportunity analysis strategies, and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients.

You will ideally have experience in:

  • Good knowledge/ or experience of road surfacing (asphalt and/or spray seal) would be highly regarded but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to build a good rapport with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers across the industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Power point).
  • Knowledge of estimating software such as Benchmark or equivalent estimating packages it would be highly regarded but not essential.
  • Relevant Engineering, Business, Commerce or Construction Management qualifications is preferable, but not essential together.
