Job summary

Mai-Wel in Maitland, NSW, is seeking a committed Disability Support Worker to provide personalised support to participants with complex needs, including dementia. You will build trust, follow care plans and support daily living tasks.

Permanent part-time role, 25 hours per week, morning to evening shifts, sleepovers and weekends. Experience with mental health and person-centred Active Support valued.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with dementia and complex mental health needs.
• Experience providing stoma care and personal care.
• Commitment to following Personal Support Plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Availability for morning, day, afternoon, evening shifts, sleepovers and weekends.
• Permanent part-time employment with 25 hours per week.
• Mental health background welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Supporting daily routines, household tasks and community participation.
• Following Personal Support Plans and implementing strategies in Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Role modelling Active Support by encouraging participation and skill-building.
• Communicating clearly with the team to ensure alignment.
• Maintaining accurate records and observations of participants’ needs.
