Job summary

Challenge Community Services is seeking compassionate Support Workers to join the Illawarra Accommodation Services in Horsley, NSW. You’ll provide personal care, daily living support and promote independence for clients with high support needs, including those in shared living environments.

The role includes PM/ sleepover shifts as part of a flexible roster. Experience with disability support and strong communication is essential.

Support Worker - Illawarra Accommodation Services - Casual and Part Time

Challenge Community Services – Horsley NSW

We’re looking for compassionate and skilledSupport Workersto join our Accommodation Services team. You’ll assist clients with high support needs, including those using wheelchairs and requiring medical support, helping them live with dignity and independence.

The role involves personal care, daily living support, and promoting autonomy within shared living environments.

About the Roster:

This service operates on a roster that includes afternoon/evening and sleepover shifts to ensure consistent, high-quality support for the people we support.

To be successful in this role, applicants must have genuine ongoing availability to work PM and sleepover shifts, as these shifts are a fundamental requirement of the service model. Please consider your availability carefully before applying, as we are unable to offer positions to applicants who cannot meet these roster requirements.

• SCHAD’s Award Level 2Pay rates from$36.22– $39.53 (base rate) or $45.28 - $49.41 (casual rate)
• Flexible roster with shift work, weekends, public holidays & sleepovers

• Safety and Wellbeing support via Sonder

Duties:

• Provide personal care and daily living support

Skills and Experience:

• Experience supporting high-needs disability clients
• Confidence in manual handling and use of aids
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility for varied shifts and rostered work
• Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word & Outlook)
• Current Driver’s Licence, Working With Children Check, NSW NDIS Worker Screening Check, and National Police Check
• Access to a personal vehicle for work use, if required
• Certificate III or IV in Disability Support (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of NDIA processes
