Job summary

Interact Australia is hiring casual support workers to assist clients under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The role focuses on promoting independence through community participation, skill development and daily living support, in partnership with families and carers.

Successful applicants will join a pool of casual workers with no guaranteed ongoing shifts. National screening and background checks are required, and compliance with NDIS standards is essential.

Qualifications

• NDIS Worker Screening and background checks required.
• Experience with personal care and complex behaviours preferred.
• Understanding of NDIS principles and participant rights.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to meet clients' goals in their NDIS plans.
• Assist with community participation, skill building and daily living tasks.
• Collaborate with families and support networks to coordinate care.
• Keep accurate progress notes and case records.
• Work within the NDIS Code of Conduct at all times.
• Provide community access and domestic support as needed.

About the Role

This role of the support worker is to provide exceptional service whilst supporting Interact Australia’s clients to meet their goals as set out in their NDIS plan. This includes;

Working autonomously to provide appropriate levels of support to maintain and improve the client’s level of independence. This may include community participation, skill building, vocational preparation, relationship building, and various other needs.

Respond to the client’s needs and collaborate positively with their families, support people and others in their lives.

Keep accurate and complete records of activities via progress notes

Work within the NDIS Code of Conduct

Provide Community access and Domestic support

Who you are

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has the following attributes;

• Working with Children Check
• NDIS Worker Screening
• Experience Managing Complex Behaviours
• Experience with Personal Care
• Experience with Restrictive Practices
• Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
• An understanding of NDIS and a commitment to its principles
• Ability to work in partnership with NDIS participants to achieve their goals
• A passion for assisting individuals with a disability to improve their quality of life and to reach their potential
• Driver's Licence and own car, and a willingness to use for transporting clients (where required

Please note successful candidates will join a pool of casual support workers. There is no guarantee of ongoing shifts.

Please note:The successful candidate will be required to participate in an Australian Federal Police check, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Worker Screening and a Working with Children Check, prior to confirmation of appointment to the position.

The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
