Job summary

Wellways Australia in Albury, NSW is seeking a Casual Support Worker to help participants live fulfilling lives in the community. The role involves assisting with daily life, personal care, domestic tasks and social activities, with shifts that may include mornings, days, evenings or sleepovers.

Open availability is valued; you will work with a supportive team, complete required pre-employment checks, and may support the NDIS program.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate 3 in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care, Home and Community Care or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a variety of services to participants to support them to live a fulfilling life in the community.
• Assist with daily life activities, including personal care, domestic activities and social participation.
• Support skill development activities and travel to clients’ homes as required.

• This position requires regular travel to clients’ houses. Candidates must have access to a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

About this opportunity

As a Support Worker, you will deliver a variety of services to participants to support them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life in the community. Your working day may include assistance and or support with daily life, including personal care, domestic activities, social and community participation and varying skill development activities.

You’re a passionate, empathetic and caring individual who is looking to make an invaluable positive impact on the lives of others. You relish a challenge and new experience. You’re calm, collected and resilient in the face of adversity and are looking to carry these qualities with you to the front line to start helping those in need. You are an independent, proactive thinker and worker but are also able to follow direction/s given by your managers and can work within a tight-knit team. You may also be required to support the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) program, at the request of your employer.

Pre employment checks

• Minimum Certificate 3 in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care, Home and Community Care or related fields (Desired, but not essential)
• Applicants having experience and knowledge with physical disabilities will be at an advantage
• A current valid Driver’s License and a registered, insured vehicle
• National Police Check (completed within the last 12 months) and Working with Children Check
• NDIS Orientation Certificate - free online course
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Manual Handling training would be desired
