Qualifications

  • Experience as a Support Worker or similar disability support role with person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming practice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, relationship-building, and the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and practices, including risk awareness, incident reporting, and maintaining safe, respectful environments.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, for client interaction, documentation, and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Basic technical support skills relevant to the role, such as assisting clients with everyday technologies and using digital tools for record-keeping.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in disability support, community services, allied health assistance, education support, or a related field.
  • Understanding of neurodiversity and commitment to inclusive, rights-based approaches to disability support.
  • Current Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening (or equivalent), and first aid certification, or willingness to obtain these.

Responsibilities

Role Description The Support Worker role is an on-site position based in Newcastle, NSW.
