Job summary

Embrace Neurodiversity Australia seeks a dedicated Support Worker to provide person-centred support in Newcastle, NSW. You will assist neurodivergent clients with daily living activities, skills development, and participation in home and community settings.

You'll implement support plans, promote independence, monitor wellbeing, document progress, and collaborate with families and other professionals, upholding safeguarding and neurodiversity-affirming practices.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Support Worker or similar disability support role with person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming practice.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, relationship-building, and the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of safeguarding principles and practices, including risk awareness, incident reporting, and maintaining safe, respectful environments.
• Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, for client interaction, documentation, and collaboration with colleagues.
• Basic technical support skills relevant to the role, such as assisting clients with everyday technologies and using digital tools for record-keeping.
• Relevant qualifications or training in disability support, community services, allied health assistance, education support, or a related field.
• Understanding of neurodiversity and commitment to inclusive, rights-based approaches to disability support.
• Current Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening (or equivalent), and first aid certification, or willingness to obtain these.

Role Description The Support Worker role is an on-site position based in Newcastle, NSW.
