Descripción del empleo

We're building aircraft that fly faster, further, and to space.

Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space - and we're a small, highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.

The Opportunity

As Supply Chain Lead, you’ll take ownership of procurement, supplier relationships and material flow for Hypersonix’s DART flight and ground hardware. Thisroleoffers the opportunity to shape the function from the ground up—managing orders, strengthening supplier capability and building the processes and systems needed as DART moves from prototype builds to repeatable production. You’ll lead the current Supply Chain team, one Material Handler, while staying hands‑on across purchasing and order management.

You’ll combine supply chain expertise, strong relationships and meticulous follow-through to keep materials flowing on time, to the right revision and with full traceability. If you want to make a real impact in a scaling Australian aerospace company, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll own
Responsibilities include:
Procurement
  • Own end-to-end procurement and supplier relationships across the full commodity range, from RFQs, quote evaluation and negotiation through to purchase orders, expediting and delivery.
  • Work closely with Finance to resolve any invoice and payment issues, ensuring suppliers are paid on time.
  • Translate MRP demand and engineering changes into timely purchasing actions, balancing cost, lead time, quality, logistics and supplier risk to keep orders aligned with the production schedule.
Supplier management
  • Build and manage a reliable supplier network, including onboarding, due diligence, performance reviews and the development of alternative sources for high-risk and long‑lead items.
  • Foster collaborative supplier relationships while ensuring the correct technical, quality, traceability and export control requirements are clearly communicated and consistently met.
Inventory, stores and logistics
  • Own goods receipt, stores, inventory accuracy and BOM kitting, verifying incoming documentation and coordinating inspections and non‑conforming goods with Quality.
  • Manage domestic and international freight, including dangerous goods, import/export documentation and customs clearance.
People leadership
  • Lead the Material Handler and ensure safe, effective stores operations, while planning future team capacity and roles as the supply chain function grows.
Systems, reporting and process
  • Act as the supply chain owner for Silkline and Manufacturo, ensuring accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing and inventory data while providing clear reporting on material status, shortages, open orders, delivery performance and supply risk.
  • Support Finance with accurate purchasing data and maintain ISO 9001‑aligned procurement, receiving and inventory procedures.
Life at Hypersonix

We're a 70-person company moving fast in one of the most demanding fields in aerospace. The pace is fast, expectations are high and the environment is constantly evolving. The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it.

To thrive here, you’ll need to embrace change, stay resilient, and bring a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset. Priorities shift fast — you'll need to adapt just as fast and genuinely enjoy the pace rather than just tolerate it. You'll be part of a tight‑knit team delivering bleeding‑edge solutions under real deadline pressure, so strong problem‑solving instincts and flexibility aren't nice‑to‑haves — they’re how the work gets done.

What You’ll Bring

To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need:

  • 5+ years in supply chain or technical procurement for engineered hardware (machined parts, electronics, fabricated assemblies or similar) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in an SME or start‑up supply chain role, with hands‑on ownership of the whole process, and a track record of building strong supplier relationships as a smaller customer.
  • Experience in a low‑volume, high‑mix, regulated or high‑reliability setting, such as defence, aerospace, medical devices, rail, mining equipment or research hardware.
  • Hands‑on experience running purchasing in an MRP/ERP system, including BOM‑driven demand, purchase orders and inventory transactions.
  • Ability to read 2D engineering drawings and specifications, including checking quotes and supplier documentation against requirements.
  • Proven supplier negotiation and expediting experience, including managing late or non‑conforming deliveries.
  • Experience supervising at least one direct report or formal work delegation responsibilities.
  • Comfortable in an admin‑heavy role, with disciplined data hygiene and follow‑up across many open orders and systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the persistence to coordinate people and drive actions to close across internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to pass any applicable security clearance or background checks.
  • Right to live and work in Australia.
Bonus points
  • Tertiary qualification in supply chain, business, engineering or a technical discipline; or professional certification (e.g. CIPS, ASCM/APICS).
  • Experience with Silkline, Manufacturo, First Resonance ION or similar procurement and MRP/MES platforms.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 purchasing and traceability requirements, including CoCs, material certifications and first article inspection (AS9102).

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident or have an appropriate Australian work visa. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTC) apply and as such, we may need to ask additional questions about citizenship as applicable. Applicants will also need to complete pre‑employment workforce screening checks.
