Job summary

Cobra Asia Pacific Pty Ltd seeks a dedicated Supervisor – Civil to lead and oversee construction activities for the Central-West Orana Transmission project. You will ensure safety, quality and compliance while coordinating with subcontractors on large-scale transmission line and substation works.

Based out of Sydney, the role involves 14 days onsite in camp-style accommodation and a roaster-based schedule, with strong focus on HS&E, planning and timely defect resolution.

Qualifications

• Preferable 5+ years' experience as a supervisor.
• Experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above.
• Experience working on large scale renewable energy transmission lines / towers, substations and or infrastructure style projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Understands specifications and drawings.
• Experience managing subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures.
• Demonstrated relevant leadership skills.
• Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied.

Responsibilities

• Record non-conformances and initiate corrective actions.
• Provide leadership to subcontractors and monitor performance.
• Drive commitment to quality from top down and bottom up.
• Ensure compliance with all ACEREZ D&C procedures and checklists.

Job description

Cobra is divided into four main sectors of activity, Networks, Specialised installations, integrated projects and concession assets.

ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.

The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.

The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.

The Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Supervisors – Civil to share their expertise within our growing Transmission Lines & Towers, Energy Hubs and Substations Teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all construction works meet specifications and relevant standards
• Takes responsibility for the quality of work under their supervision.
• Ensures that all construction works undertaken and completed are in conformance with the specification and relevant standards and Code of Practice
• Checks to ensure whatever actions are required under Hold and Witness Points have been performed prior to commencing work.
• Ensure all workers have received a project specific induction that explains all hazards present on the project and the control measures to be followed before beginning working activities.
• Adopt a zero tolerance to work practices and equipment that may be unsafe or have serious adverse Safety or environmental impact.
• Ensures that project team completes all outstanding defects as a matter of priority.
• Ensures non-conformances are recorded and corrective actions initiated.
• Provides positive leadership to subcontractors, monitors and controls their performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship is performed.
• Drives commitment to quality both top down and bottom up.
• Ensures compliance with all ACEREZ D&C management system procedures including Plant Operator Assessments, verifies Daily Checklists, Weekly Checklists and works with Permits where required.
• Provides positive leadership to subcontractors, monitors and controls their performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship is performed
• Participates in the preparation of Safe Work Method Statements and JSA cards in conjunction with work crews and ensures that all controls are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Preferable 5+ years' experience as a supervisor
• Experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above
• Experience working on large scale renewable energy transmission lines / towers, substations and or infrastructure style projects

• Must be able to issue clear directions to construction workers.
• Clear communication – verbal and written.

Supervisor positions are DIDO out of Sydney: 14 days onsite in camp style accommodation and 7 days off site, on a roster-based arrangement out of The Central West Orana Transmission Line Project
