Job summary

ACCIONA is leading the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone project in Australia and is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Electrical. You will provide leadership across the project delivery team, ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost control for large-scale renewable energy substations and associated infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above.
• Preferable 7 years' experience in a construction/engineering environment, on large scale renewable energy and substations projects.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.

ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.
The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.
The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.
Our Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Senior Project Engineer - Electrical to share their expertise within our growing Energy Hubs and Substations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides positive leadership to subcontractors monitors and controls their performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship performed both on and off site is in accordance with the specifications and relevant procedures.
• Drives commitment to quality both top down and bottom up.
• Ensures that the appropriate personnel are in place with delegated responsibilities to guarantee quality procedures are integrated.
• Ensures that project team completes all outstanding defects as a matter of priority.
• Ensures implementation of project quality plan
• Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved.
• Manage the operational aspects of project delivery to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model.
• Identifies what Authorities are appropriate in obtaining approvals with specific project work and interrelationships between Authorities.
• Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
• Prepare project status reports and change orders.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above
• Preferable 7 years' experience in a construction / engineering environment, on large scale renewable energy and substations projects
• Bachelor's degree (Engineering)
• Relevant Tertiary Education
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
• Presented problem solving / analytical skills.
• Demonstrated relevant leadership skills.
• Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied.
• Competent in planning and organising work schedules.
• Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same
• Competent with cost control of projects

Senior Project Engineer positions are bus in, bus out, with camp style accommodation provided for 14 days onsite and 7 days off site, on a roster-based arrangement out of the Central West Orana Region.
