Job summary

Rio Tinto in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is seeking a Blast Supervisor to lead a team of blast operators, promoting safety and best practices while delivering reliable blasting performance. You will mentor frontline crews, coordinate blasting activities to align with the mine plan and regulatory standards, and mentor a culture of continuous improvement.

You will report to the Drill & Blast Superintendent and work on an 8/6/7 nights roster, with rosters designed to support

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with surface blasting operations.
  • Commitment to safety and wellbeing of team.
  • Valid DGSC Dangerous Goods Security license.
  • WA WHS Statutory Supervisor Certification is required.
  • Holding a current C Class WA Manual Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices, and processes, whilst providing leadership, development and support to your team
  • Supervise and coordinate blasting activities on site with peers across multiple disciplines to deliver the mine plan
  • Ensure all mining activities undertaken are in compliance with all relevant statutory regulations and Rio Tinto standards and policies
  • Contribute to the HSE system and increase awareness to enable an injury free and environmentally responsible workplace
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects which including cost saving and production efficiency projects
  • Daily inspections of all work areas and regular on the job interactions with the team
  • Oversee QA/QC for sensitive blasts, taking into consideration heritage, environment and infrastructure

About The Role

We are looking for a Blast Supervisor to join our Drill & Blast team to lead, mentor, coach and develop a team of blast operators to actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices with the aim of driving consistent performance and innovation in relation to safety, cost and production.
