Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Superintendent Business Planning & Improvement to drive operational excellence through integrated planning, governance and continuous improvement across the Greater Nammuldi Operations in the Pilbara region.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, partner with operational leaders and shape risk and capital governance to deliver safe, sustainable performance. This is a FIFO role with a focus on value delivery and governance excellence.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in business planning, governance, risk or continuous improvement within mining or heavy industry or similar complex environments.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and partner with operations to achieve outcomes.
  • Strong capability in driving safety, governance and sustainable performance.

  • Facilitate integrated risk management across operational, strategic and business risks.
  • Oversee capital governance and improvement portfolios to optimise value delivery.
  • Monitor performance and identify opportunities to drive operational excellence.
  • Provide leadership and coaching across planning, governance, risk and improvement.

About The Role

We are looking for a Superintendent Business Planning & Improvement to help deliver operational excellence through integrated business planning, governance and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Manager Safety & Performance, you will lead the Business Planning & Improvement team and provide leadership across business planning, operational performance, governance and improvement initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and develop the Business Planning & Improvement team and associated business support functions.
  • Drive business planning, governance and continuous improvement activities across Greater Nammuldi Operations.
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve performance and deliver sustainable business outcomes.
  • Lead the site's Contractor Management framework, ensuring effective governance, compliance and assurance.
  • Facilitate integrated risk management processes across operational, strategic and business risks.
  • Oversee capital governance and improvement portfolios to optimise investment and value delivery.
  • Monitor business performance, identify opportunities and drive operational excellence.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and technical support across planning, governance, risk, improvement and business support functions.

Required for Success

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in business planning, operational performance, governance, risk, or continuous improvement within mining, heavy industry or a similarly complex environment.
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with leaders to deliver operational and business outcomes.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing capability across diverse functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into practical actions and sustainable improvements.
  • Experience overseeing governance, assurance, risk management or contractor management frameworks.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, engineering or a related discipline and a current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
Helpful for Success
  • Experience applying SPS, Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working within complex operational environments and influencing diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Familiarity with contractor management, risk management, governance and capital investment processes.
  • Demonstrated success leading change and delivering sustainable business improvements.
