Job summary

Aurizon is seeking a people-focused leader to drive maintenance and renewal programs across the Central Queensland Coal Network. You will coach supervisors, empower frontline teams, and deliver safe, reliable rail infrastructure through capital renewal, planned maintenance, and effective cost management.

You will lead a high-performance team, manage budgets, and embed a proactive safety culture that keeps operations efficient and safe across the network.

Qualifications

• Experience leading rail infrastructure teams and track assets.
• Proven ability to develop and implement maintenance strategies.
• Strong financial, cost control, and budgeting experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital renewal and planned maintenance/inspections.
• Oversee incident management for derailments and unplanned maintenance.
• Manage and develop a multi-skilled/trade team.
• Prepare budgets with detailed cost estimates and cost controls.
• Foster a sustainable, interdependent safety culture.
• Coach leaders and empower frontline teams to deliver programs safely.

About the role:

• Proven ability to lead and embed a positive "I Know Safe, I Choose Safe" culture through visible safety leadership, coaching, and empowering teams to take ownership of safe outcomes
• Scheduling and implementing capital renewal and planned maintenance and inspections
• Incident management (derailments and unplanned maintenance)
• Managing and developing a multi skilled/trade team
• Prepare and monitor budgets including detailed cost estimates, accurate cost capture and implementation of effective cost control measures.
• Lead and develop a sustainable interdependent safety culture

About you:

You are a respected people leader with a strong background in rail infrastructure and track assets. Leveraging your industry knowledge and leadership experience, you will empower supervisors and frontline teams to safely deliver maintenance and renewal programs that keep our network performing at its best.

• Experience in developing and implementing maintenance strategies
• High level of financial, cost control and budgetary experience.
• Proven experience in managing and developing teams
• High level of interpersonal, both written and verbal, consultation and negotiation skills.
