Job summary

Help at Hand Support Services in Sunnybank QLD is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team. You will provide person-centred support and tailor daily routines to each client, with varied activities from outings to medical appointments.

We welcome applicants with Cert III in Disability or equivalent, and require a current Working with Children Check, police check within 6 months, and First aid/CPR certificates.

Qualifications

• Must have own fully insured and reliable vehicle.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Cert III in Disability or higher or equivalent experience.
• Current Police Check (within 6 months) or International police check if applicable.
• First aid/CPR certificates (current).
• Full and clean Australian driver’s license.
• Be punctual, reliable and flexible.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Empathetic and proactive with a genuine interest to work in this field.
• Ability to self-supervise and stay calm in crises.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support and daily routines.
• Assist clients with outings (beach, movies, games) and social activities.
• Accompany clients to medical appointments and provide companionship.
• Support wellbeing and safety of clients in home and in the community.

You will be providing a person-centred approach and your daily routine will depend on the person you are supporting.

Every day could be different for you; one day you might be assisting in taking a client out for a day at the beach or taking them to a movie or a game and so on. The next day may involve assisting the client to attend a medical appointment and keeping them company at their home with a cup of tea, this type of work is exciting and varied.
