Job summary
Transgrid in Ultimo is seeking a Design Engineer - Control & Automation Design to deliver specialist engineering across substation control, protection and automation systems for major transmission projects. You will work with project teams, customers and external partners to develop standards and documentation that ensure safe, reliable operation of the electricity network.
Daily activities include designing and reviewing automation systems, preparing technical specifications, and supporting
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience designing substation Control, Protection and Automation systems.
- Knowledge of automation platforms such as zenon, ClearSCADA, CGI or similar.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP and utility communication systems.
- Understanding of Australian and IEC standards, NER and AEMO requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design and review substation Protection, Control and Automation systems.
- Prepare technical specifications and engineering design documentation.
- Develop communication architectures using IEC 61850 and DNP protocols.
- Provide technical support to external design consultants.
- Participate in FAT, SCAT and commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to meet safety, quality, budget and schedule requirements.
- Contribute to standardisation and automation tool development.
