Job summary

Mackay West State School in Queensland is seeking a temporary full-time Guidance Officer to support student wellbeing, resilience and educational success through early intervention and coordinated support programs that help every student thrive.

You will lead counselling, psychoeducational assessment, and case management in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external agencies, with a focus on inclusive practices and improving student outcomes. This EOIs open until 6 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience in student wellbeing, counselling and educational support.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with parents and external services.
• Demonstrated skill in counselling and providing psychoeducational support to students.

Responsibilities

• Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support to students, teachers and parents.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team and partner with parents and external agencies to optimise student engagement.
• Provide counselling and referral services to support educational and personal development.
• Conduct observations and assessments to inform educational adjustments and interventions.
