Job summary

Brisbane Catholic Education Office invites applications for a Guidance Counsellor at St Mary’s College, Maryborough. The role focuses on student wellbeing, mental health and development, within a Catholic educational context and a supportive school community.

The successful candidate will provide proactive counselling, psycho-educational assessments and collaborate with staff to address student needs, while upholding BCE protocols and safeguarding standards across the college.

Qualifications

• Full registration as a Teacher with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) plus completed Masters in school guidance and counselling.
• Full registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate proactive and preventative practices and initiatives for the holistic development, mental health and wellbeing of students
• Manage counselling and consulting services for students
• Provide psycho-educational and other assessments
• Ensure BCE protocols and quality processes are implemented
• Maintain standards of practice
• Apply guidance counselling skills through direct and indirect processes and through systemic, whole-school, and individual interventions
• Participate in regular individual and group supervision and mentoring activities for clinical and technical supervision.
