Job summary

ActiveRecruitment is assisting a Western Sydney Christian school in recruiting a Student Support Officer. The role focuses on compassionate, one-to-one support for a student throughout the school day, including mobility help and participation in activities.

You will work with teachers to ensure safety, inclusion and smooth transitions between classrooms. The ideal candidate is patient, reliable and collaborative, with WWCC and First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• WWCC required and must be current.
• First Aid certification desirable.
• Experience supporting children or young people is highly desirable.
• Willingness to complete school-required training.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to the student throughout the school day.
• Assist with classroom activities, learning materials and technology.
• Support mobility and positioning and accompany the student between areas.
• Support participation in sports, assemblies and events.
• Accompany the student on excursions and camps as required.

Payrate: $49.18 per hourr + super About the Opportunity Our client, a well-established Christian school in Western Sydney, is seeking a compassionate and reliable Student Support Officer to provide dedicated support to a student throughout the school day. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about helping students engage in their learning, participate in school activities and navigate their day with confidence and independence. About the Role Working closely with the student, teachers and school staff, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-on-one support throughout the school day.
• Assisting with classroom activities, learning materials and technology.
• Supporting the student to move safely between classrooms and other areas of the school.
• Providing practical assistance with day-to-day school activities.
• Supporting participation in sporting activities, assemblies, performances and other school events.
• Accompanying the student on excursions, camps and other activities where required.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and participation alongside peers.
• Assisting with mobility and positioning as required.
• Supporting the student's personal care needs if required in the future.

The student is not wheelchair-bound; however, their reliance on a wheelchair during the school day has increased significantly. The successful candidate will therefore need to be comfortable providing mobility assistance and practical support as required.

Essential Requirements

• Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
• Availability to work Monday to Friday during school terms.
• Previous experience supporting children or young people is highly desirable.
• Current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
• Willingness to complete any training required by the school.

Christian School Requirement

As our client is a Christian school, applicants are required to be practising Christians with regular church attendance. This will be verified with the applicant's minister/pastor as part of the recruitment process.
