Job summary

St Mary’s Catholic College, Woree, is seeking a Student Support Officer to manage the Student Support Room, coordinating evidence-based strategies to prepare students to re-engage with learning. The role involves data management and liaison with the Pastoral Care Team to support students with additional needs during timetabled lessons.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal - Senior Secondary, the SSO works with Heads of Year, Counsellors and the Student Support Teacher to maintain a supportive

Qualifications

• Working with Children Blue Card.
• Tertiary qualifications at Associate Diploma or Certificate level in Youth Work/Social Work or related field.
• Demonstrated relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Student Support Room and implement evidence based strategies.
• Liaise with Pastoral Leaders, Counsellors and other staff.
• Assist with data management and reporting on student support needs.
• Ensure students follow behavioural procedures and maintain a calm environment.
• Prioritise situations in consultation with the Pastoral Team.
• Monitor electronic records and communicate trends to Pastoral Team.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide excellent student support.
