Job summary

Tardis Group is seeking a Structured Credit Analyst in Sydney, NSW to support investment management activities across structured credit and private debt markets. The role emphasizes cash flow modelling, risk assessment, and collaboration with trustees, servicers, and rating agencies.

Qualifications

• 5-6 years' relevant experience in structured credit, fixed income, credit risk, or related field.
• Degree qualification in finance, economics, commerce or related field; CFA/CAIA/FRM viewed favourably.
• Demonstrated cash flow modelling experience for securitized or structured products (Intex, Bloomberg).
• Sound understanding of Australian structured credit and private debt markets, including RMBS/ABS structures.
• Excel modelling; SQL/Python/R knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct bottom-up credit analysis on structured credit transactions, including collateral pool review and covenant testing.
• Assess originator/servicer quality and portfolio performance trends for warehouse and non-bank lending facilities.
• Prepare investment papers and credit memos for new deal approval and ongoing surveillance.
• Build and maintain cash flow models to stress-test collateral performance under varying scenarios.
• Monitor portfolio parameter compliance against transaction and mandate requirements.
• Liaise with trustees, servicers, and rating agencies to obtain and validate reporting data.
• Prepare regular portfolio and risk reporting for internal stakeholders and investment committees.

Job description

Our client is a Sydney based investment management firm with $4.5 billion of funds under management. They have a diversified client base which includes retail, wholesale and institutional investors across Australia and New Zealand. Our client specializes in building defensive fixed income portfolios with a focus on capital preservation and income generation.

They are a small team that works very closely together in a collaborative collegial environment. Our client provides a hybrid flexible work environment with opportunities for involvement in all aspects of the investment management process. They are looking for someone with a good base knowledge of structured credit research who is keen to further develop their skills in an investment management environment. Strong quantitative acumen and financial analysis skills are essential. Prior buy side investment experience considered a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct bottom-up credit analysis on structured credit transactions, including collateral pool review, transaction structure, waterfall mechanics, and covenant testing.
• Assess originator/servicer quality, underwriting standards, and portfolio performance trends for warehouse and non-bank lending facilities.
• Prepare investment papers and credit memos for new deal approval and ongoing surveillance.
• Build and maintain cash flow models to stress-test collateral performance under varying prepayment, default, and loss severity scenarios.
• Monitor portfolio parameter compliance (concentration limits, weighted average life, arrears triggers, coverage ratios) against transaction and mandate requirements.
• Track collateral performance data (arrears, defaults, prepayments, recoveries) and flag deviations from expected performance.
• Liaise with trustees, servicers, and rating agencies to obtain and validate reporting data.
• Maintain internal watchlists and maintain emerging credit concerns to senior team members in a timely manner.
• Prepare regular portfolio and risk reporting for internal stakeholders, investment committees, and (where applicable) unitholders.
• Support responsible entity and compliance functions with disclosure requirements, including PDS/IM updates and RG 97 fee and cost disclosure inputs where relevant.
• Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting cycles, including commentary on portfolio positioning and credit developments.
• Assist with due diligence on new transactions, including data room review, legal documentation review (trust deeds, security trust deeds, servicing agreements), and coordination with legal counsel.
• Support negotiation of portfolio parameters, triggers, and covenants on new facilities.
• Liaise with rating agencies, arrangers, and legal advisors through transaction execution.
• Build and maintain relationships with originators, servicers, trustees, and other market participants.
• Represent the team in industry forums and market updates relevant to structured credit and private debt markets.
• Presenting to clients and consultants on a periodic basis

Requirements

• Approximately 5-6 years' relevant experience in structured credit, fixed income, credit risk, or a related discipline (buy-side, sell-side, rating agency, or trustee/servicing background considered).
• Degree qualification in finance, economics, commerce, or a related field. Progress toward or completion of CFA, CAIA, or FRM viewed favourably.
• Demonstrated experience with cash flow modelling for securitised or structured products (Intex, Bloomberg, or proprietary modelling tools).
• Sound understanding of Australian structured credit and private debt markets, including RMBS/ABS structures, warehouse facilities, and non-bank lending.
• Working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (ASIC disclosure obligations, responsible entity requirements) is advantageous.
• Strong Excel modelling skills; experience with SQL, Python, R, or similar for data analysis is a plus.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external reporting.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines across due diligence, monitoring, and reporting cycles.
