Qualifications

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Structural Inspection Technician to join our dedicated Structural Inspection team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

This role works Monday – Friday and partners closely with our Structural Inspection Engineer. You'll play a key role in helping maintain the safety and integrity of plant structures across our operations. This is a hands‑on role combining field inspections, reporting and coordination activities, providing an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical trade or maintenance background who enjoys being out on site and working as part of a small, specialised team.

What Will You Do?

Being a valued member of our team, this opportunity will see you:

  • conduct visual inspections of plant structures across various operational areas
  • identify and document structural defects, deterioration and potential risks
  • prepare inspection reports and provide observations to support engineering recommendations
  • coordinate inspection activities with site stakeholders and assist with scheduling upcoming work
  • work safely in a range of environments, including outdoor areas, confined spaces, elevated work platforms and working at heights
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection processes and site safety outcomes
  • build effective working relationships with internal customers and operational teams.

You are a safety-focused individual who enjoys practical, site-based work and takes pride in producing accurate, detailed reports. You will also bring:

  • a trade, maintenance, contractor or industrial operations background
  • strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and document issues clearly
  • confidence working in industrial environments, including at heights and in confined spaces
  • good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate activities and manage competing priorities
  • a customer-focused approach and the ability to work effectively within a small team
  • strong communication skills and a willingness to learn new technical skills
  • a proactive approach to safety, hazard identification and risk management
