Job summary

Hills Blast & Paint in Sydney, NSW, is seeking an experienced Industrial Blaster/Painter to join our production team. You will perform abrasive blasting, apply industrial coatings, and ensure high-quality finishes on structural steel and heavy equipment.

We look for minimum 2 years of painting and blasting experience, knowledge of coating techniques, and the ability to work safely in heights and confined spaces.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in painting and blasting, ideally within the structural steel or heavy equipment industry.
  • Knowledge of different painting techniques, coatings, and equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in heights and confined spaces.
  • Ability to set up, use and maintain abrasive blast and spray equipment.
  • Pass a drug and alcohol screening.
  • Previous experience in industrial painting or a similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, clean, and strip metal surfaces through abrasive blasting
  • Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, paint, and other contaminants for optimal coating adhesion
  • Operate and maintain abrasive blasting equipment
  • Mix and match paints and coatings according to specifications
  • Apply industrial coatings using airless and conventional spray equipment, rollers, and brushes
  • Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure a smooth, even finish
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment safely
  • Follow workplace safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE and ventilation

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Blaster/Painters with a strong background in Production to join our team in Sydney. The successful candidate will be a part team of tradespeople to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes.

What you will be required to do:

To be successful in the role you will have (or willingness to obtain):

  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating techniques, including abrasive blasting and industrial-grade paint application.
  • Solid understanding of painting materials, blasting processes, and surface treatment methods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
  • Demonstrated experience in airless and conventional spray painting
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening
