Job summary

Northern Beaches Council is seeking a Street Sweeping Operator for a permanent full-time role (38 hours per week) based on the Northern Beaches in Sydney. You will operate street sweeping vehicles and perform pre-start checks to keep public spaces tidy.

Joining our Waste Management & Cleansing team, you'll contribute to cleansing, litter removal and routine vehicle maintenance, in a safety-focused environment across diverse streets and carparks.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Rosmech street sweepers is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform pre-start checks and basic maintenance on vehicles.
• Experience with street cleansing in public spaces preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate full-size and compact mechanical street sweeping vehicles safely.
• Provide scheduled and ad-hoc sweeping in designated streets and carparks.
• Conduct manual sweeping to remove litter where needed.
• Perform basic maintenance to minimise service interruptions.
• Comply with Work Health & Safety and related regulations.

Salary Range: $71,935.14 to $83,600.28 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

The Waste Management & Cleansing Business Unit provides a range of services relating to cleansing, waste, and resource recovery, including collection services as well as being the key point of contact for the management of Kimbriki. It provides accurate and timely advice and uses better practice methods and procedures while developing new and innovative solutions.

Our Opportunity

• Operating full size and compact mechanical street sweeping vehicles safely, in a variety of traffic and weather conditions.
• Providing scheduled and ad-hoc sweeping service in designated streets, carparks and other public areas, ensuring clean and tidy public spaces.
• Conducting manual sweeping to remove litter, debris, leaves and other materials from gutters where mechanical sweeping is not possible.
• Perform pre-start checks on vehicles and equipment and reporting any defects to ensure equipment and operations are safe.
• Conduct basic routine maintenance on equipment, to ensure machinery is fully operational and to minimise service interruptions.
• Comply with all applicable state and local legislations with regard to Work Health & Safety and Chain of Responsibilities

About You

We’re looking for a Suitably Qualified Candidate to join our Public Waste & Cleansing Services team. You’ll bring experience and skillset relevant to a role in Public Place Cleansing to a team passionate about making a difference to our community.

Experience and knowledge operating and basic maintenance of Rosmech street sweepers are highly desirable.
