Job summary

Virgin Australia is seeking a curious and commercially minded Strategy Analyst to join the Velocity Strategy team in Sydney. With two to four years of experience, you will contribute to strategic analysis and cross-functional initiatives across Velocity and Virgin Australia.

You’ll turn insights into clear recommendations for stakeholders, using data and financial analysis to inform decisions. Join a team focused on growth, commercial success and industry leadership.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of experience in strategy, finance, consulting or data analysis.
• Degree in a relevant field such as Commerce, Engineering, Economics or Statistics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence using Excel and data analysis tools.

• Support strategic and transformational initiatives across Velocity and the wider business.
• Help assess strategic opportunities, receiving briefs from other teams and formulating hypotheses.
• Analyse business and financial information to inform high-impact decisions by creating a fact-base of analysis and insights.
• Provide strategic options and proposals based on insights and financial metrics.
• Prepare clear presentations to senior leaders and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Track key metrics and targets on behalf of the business to understand performance against long-range plans.

We’re looking for a curious and commercially minded Strategy Analyst to join our Velocity Strategy team in Sydney. This is a great opportunity for someone with two to four years’ experience who wants to build their strategy career while contributing to important decisions and initiatives across Velocity and Virgin Australia.

About the role

Reporting to the Strategy & Innovation Manager – Velocity, you’ll work with experienced team members on strategic analysis, cross-functional projects and initiatives that support the long-term direction and commercial success of Velocity.

You’ll bring a structured approach to complex business questions, use data and financial analysis to develop insights, and help turn those insights into clear recommendations for stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

• Analyse business and financial information to inform high-impact decisions by creating fact-base of analysis and insights.
• Providing strategic options and proposals based on insights and financial metrics.
• Prepare clear presentations to senior leaders and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Track key metrics and targets on behalf of the business to understand performance against long range plans
• Stay informed about changes in the business and broader industry.

About you

You’re analytical, commercially curious and enjoy solving complex problems. You can bring structure to your thinking, work collaboratively and communicate your insights clearly.

You’ll also have:

• Two to four years’ experience in strategy, finance, consulting or data analysis.
• A degree in a relevant field, such as Commerce, Engineering, Economics or Statistics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence using Excel and data analysis tools.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including presentation development.
• An understanding of business principles, financial analysis and strategy concepts.

Experience with financial modelling, business case development, aviation economics or strategy execution tools will be highly regarded.
