Job summary

Ramsay Health Care in Sydney seeks a strategic Business Development Manager to grow the Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) pipeline across its southern and western catchments. You will lead pipeline creation, relationship development with VMOs, registrars, and specialists, and drive utilisation and revenue across multiple private hospitals.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Health Administration, or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in business development, sales, or relationship management.
• Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding revenue or growth targets.
• Experience managing long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder engagement environments.
• Strong healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or complex B2B background is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end VMO growth strategy across assigned catchments with a focus on pipeline creation and utilization optimisation.
• Identify, engage, and convert high-potential VMOs aligned to hospital growth priorities.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with registrars, fellows, and early-career specialists.
• Develop specialty-specific pipelines across Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Neurosurgery.
• Leverage partnerships to generate leads and market intelligence.
• Manage end-to-end VMO onboarding and integration into hospital services.
• Conduct 1, 3, 6, and 12-month check-ins to support utilisation and retention.
• Analyse VMO utilisation and theatre activity to identify growth opportunities and revenue strategies.
• Re-engage VMOs from competitor facilities and support transitions to Ramsay hospitals.
• Collaborate with hospital executives and perioperative teams to improve theatre utilisation and Net Patient Revenue.
• Contribute to succession planning for retiring VMOs and mitigate revenue risk.
• Maintain CRM records (Sugar CRM) and report on pipeline activity and KPIs.
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform growth strategies.
• Partner with GP Liaison Officers and marketing to drive coordinated growth initiatives.
