THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated individual to work as part of a team and in partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to deliver on the government's commitment to Aboriginal self-determination and self-management, as outlined in the vision of the Aboriginal Children's Forum and Wungurilwil Gapgdapduir: Aboriginal Children and Families Agreement.
A Senior Project Officer is sought to join the Aboriginal Children in Aboriginal Care policy team that works with stakeholders to support ACCOs to assume increased responsibility for vulnerable Aboriginal children, including those on protection orders and in out-of-home care. Based in the Aboriginal Initiatives & Policy Team, the Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of ongoing and short to long term projects and policy which aim address the over-representation of Aboriginal children involved within child protection, and to ensure Aboriginal children and young people have the opportunity to grow up culturally rich in strong Aboriginal families and communities.
