Job summary

HPAC Forum in Canberra/Melbourne is seeking a Strategic Policy and Projects Officer on a part-time 0.6 FTE fixed-term basis until June 2028. The role involves policy development, research, project delivery, governance and secretariat support with a high degree of autonomy.

The successful candidate will work across health professions accreditation, engage stakeholders, and contribute to strategic priorities within a collaborative small team.

The Health Professions Accreditation Collaborative (HPAC) Forum brings together health profession accreditation authorities within Australia's National Regulation and Accreditation Scheme. We work collaboratively with our member organisations and other stakeholders to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of accreditation and assessment functions of the regulated health professions for the benefit of the community.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Strategic Policy and Projects Officer to support the strategic work of the HPAC Forum. Combining policy, research, project management and stakeholder engagement, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that strengthen collaboration and advance priorities across the health professions accreditation sector.

Working closely with the Executive Officer, you will contribute to the Forum's strategic priorities through a combination of policy development, research, project delivery, stakeholder engagement, governance, communications and secretariat support.

This position operates with a high degree of autonomy. We are seeking someone who can take ownership of an issue or piece of work, understand the desired outcome, determine an appropriate approach, engage relevant stakeholders, and drive activities through to successful completion.

Role Responsibilities:

• Research and analyse policy, regulatory and system issues and develop options, recommendations and advice;
• Lead allocated projects and work programs, coordinating stakeholders and delivering outcomes;
• Coordinate member engagement, consultations and working group activities;
• Apply an understanding of cultural safety, equity and inclusion, including the experiences and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
• Support effective governance through the coordination of meetings, documentation, processes and follow-up actions;
• Develop and coordinate the Forum's newsletter and other communications.
• Share routine secretariat and administrative responsibilities within a small, collaborative team.

About you

You will be experienced professional with strong research, analytical, writing, project and stakeholder engagement skills.

You will demonstrate:

• The ability to research unfamiliar issues, synthesise information and develop sound advice;
• Experience independently progressing projects or substantial pieces of work;
• Strong organisation, initiative and follow through;
• The ability to build relationships and facilitate collaboration;
• Sound professional judgment and an ability to identify when matters need to be escalated
• Adaptability and confidence working in a small and evolving environment.
• Ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a demonstrated commitment to cultural safety and inclusion.
• Experience in health, education, regulation, accreditation, workforce policy, or a membership or professional organisation will be highly regarded.
• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial relevant professional experience is required.
