Job summary

Public Skills Australia is seeking a Strategic Policy Advisor (Government Priorities) to lead policy analysis and prepare governance materials. You will work with the Manager Priorities and Futures and coordinate with the Workforce Planning team to deliver insights and policy positions for parliamentary inquiries.

The role involves managing projects and budgets, consulting with stakeholders, and presenting to executives.

Qualifications

• A higher education qualification such as a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
• Policy/advisory work experience at national level.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Demonstrated capability to negotiate and build consensus with stakeholders.
• Proven ability to facilitate workshops to gather information and insights for briefings and government submissions.
• Operate with a high level of political acumen and corporate maturity to build relationships with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Consult on government reports to collate industry responses for inquiries.
• Scope and monitor government publications to inform Executive, Board and stakeholders.
• Deliver policy advice on government priorities and publications.
• Prepare high-level advice, briefings and presentations for Executive.
• Work independently to prepare governance papers, briefings and presentations.
• Manage stakeholder networks and meetings, supporting the Chair and group members.
• Present to diverse audiences including executives with strong written and verbal communication.
• Track government submissions and consultations and report back to Board and Exec.
• Maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Government agencies.
• Collaborate with other areas of the business and staff as required.

Education
