Job summary

Tweed Shire Council invites applications for a permanent, full-time planning professional to join the Strategic Planning and Urban Design Team in Murwillumbah. The role covers growth management, land use planning, planning proposals, master planning, policy development and community engagement.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
Eligibility for Corporate Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.
Previous experience in strategic and land use planning desirable.
Planning policy development and implementation desirable.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic land use strategies aligned with Council priorities, State policies, community values and future growth needs.
Assess environmental, social and economic opportunities and constraints to inform strategic planning outcomes.
Prepare, review and amend planning instruments, planning proposals, strategies and policies.
Contribute to the delivery of Council's strategic planning and growth management objectives.
Facilitate stakeholder and community engagement to support informed planning decisions.
Ensure compliance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Local Government Act.
