Job summary

Health and Community Services Directorate in Canberra seeks an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to provide strategic advice on nursing and midwifery policy. Reporting to the Senior Nursing Advisor, the role drives delivery of key projects and informs decision-making across ACT health policy.

You will lead research, prepare briefings and manage stakeholder relationships to strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforce, with potential supervision of one staff member.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with registration or eligibility with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Holds postgraduate tertiary qualifications relevant to the role.
• Pre-employment National Police Check required before commencement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of priority nursing policy projects.
• Undertake research and analyses to inform decisions.
• Prepare high-quality briefings, submissions, reports and speeches for Ministerial, Legislative Assembly and Cabinet processes.
• Build and maintain partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders across government, health services and education providers.
