Job summary

Mount Isa City Council is seeking a Management Accountant to oversee and participate in the provision of Council’s financial services. You will process accounting transactions, support the Manager Corporate and Financial Services, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial governance.

You will partner with operational managers, prepare management reports, assist with long-term financial planning and ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and statutory

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in accounting/commerce/finance is essential.
• Current CPA Australia or CA membership or progress toward qualification is desirable.
• Experience in local government or regulated environments is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability coordinating budgets, forecasts and long-term plans.
• Strong business partnering skills to translate financial data into practical advice.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in provision of Council’s financial services functions.
• Process accounting transactions and maintain general ledger integrity.
• Coordinate budgets, rolling forecasts, monthly reporting and long-term financial planning.
• Support the Manager Corporate and Financial Services with financial statements and audit readiness.
• Provide high-level analysis, reconciliations and advisory duties for management.
