Job summary

Westmead Hospital, part of NSW Health, is seeking a Deputy Head of Nutrition and Dietetics to lead a large clinical nutrition and dietetics service within a tertiary hospital. The role focuses on operational leadership, workforce development and delivering high-quality patient-centred care.

You will collaborate with the Head of Department to drive strategic initiatives, mentor staff, and advance evidence-based practice across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Recognised Degree in Dietetics & Nutrition is required and must be acceptable to the Dietitians Association.
• Higher degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Health or related research/management qualifications or working towards them is desirable.
• Substantial postgraduate Dietetics & Nutrition clinical practice and supervision experience.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, coordinate and evaluate Dietetics & Nutrition services with strategic clinical planning.
• Excellent communication, initiative, time management and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and management to ensure high-quality Nutrition and Dietetics services across the department.
• Lead workforce activities including recruitment, performance development, supervision, rostering and mentoring of Dietitians.
• Drive evidence-based practice, clinical governance, service evaluation, quality improvement, research and strategic service development initiatives.
• Deliver advanced clinical expertise and manage a clinical caseload for complex patient care.
• Act as Deputy to the Head of Department, providing leadership and continuity of service.
