Job summary

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is seeking a Principal Planner in the Established Growth group to assess PDA development applications and provide specialist planning advice. You will collaborate with state bodies, local government, industry and communities while applying the Economic Development Act 2012.

You will prepare high-quality reports, briefings and presentations, mentor colleagues, and drive improvements in planning processes to deliver timely, strategic outcomes for Queensland

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in statutory land use planning and development assessment.
• Proven ability to provide specialist advice, guidance and recommendations on complex land use planning challenges.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to prepare high-quality reports and planning advice.
• Advanced interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with stakeholders across government and industry.
• Collaborative, customer-focused and outcomes-driven approach across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist and complex statutory land use planning advice and services to facilitate outcomes.
• Prepare and present high-quality professional written information, interpretations, briefings and reports.
• Engage with stakeholders to facilitate timely and high-quality strategic or statutory land use planning outcomes.
• Contribute to communication and negotiation strategies in complex stakeholder engagement processes.
• Assess, evaluate, analyse and provide recommendations on strategic and complex land use planning matters.
• Prepare advice with respect to relevant planning acts and policy instruments.
• Develop and implement business processes improvements relevant to work practices.
• Coach and mentor colleagues to promote team knowledge and drive collaboration.
• Drive collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and communities of practice.
