Job summary

Department of Health Victoria in Melbourne seeks a Financial Performance Analyst to support the department's strategic financial investment and health service financial sustainability. You will analyse high‑risk financial information, develop strategic reports, and interpret statements to reveal impacts while coordinating briefings and ensuring data integrity.

You will provide advisory input into PAEC/PPQ, and present findings to executives, managers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting /Commerce.
• Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA) and/or Certified Practising Accountants of Australia (CPA) will be highly regarded.
• A high degree of understanding and knowledge of the Victorian budget processes, health system funding, relevant departmental systems and environments.
• Exceptional advisory, negotiation, communication and relationship building skills, with demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a politically sensitive context.
• Knowledge of the Victorian public hospital operations, and the impact of government funding, policy and reform on operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, options and recommendations through strong analytics on activities associated with health services financial performance and present complex information to executives and decision makers clearly.
• Prepare financial reports fit for audience of internal and external stakeholders; assist with financial reports and briefings and undertake financial research and data analysis.
• Provide financial input into Public Accounts Estimates Committee (PAEC) and Possible Parliamentary Questions (PPQ) briefings.
• Quarterly review of health services performance against financial measures and support financial analysis as required.
• Develop presentations for various stakeholders including internal committees, government departments and sector representatives.
