Job summary

The Australian Human Rights Commission is seeking an experienced Senior Officer to provide strategic leadership in governance, planning, performance reporting and knowledge management within a public sector context. This full-time, ongoing role reports to the Chief Executive Office and supports evidence-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in governance, strategic planning and performance reporting within public sector or similar environment.
• Understanding of PGPA Act, public governance guidance and accountability requirements.
• Strong analytical skills for organisational data and reporting metrics.
• Ability to provide strategic leadership in a complex environment.
• Project management skills to handle priorities and deliver outcomes on time.
• Exceptional relationship management across stakeholders.
• Confident, persuasive and clear communication skills.
• Desirable qualification or experience in policy, governance, risk management or knowledge management.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the MEAL function.
• Maintain governance, quality assurance and accountability frameworks.
• Lead development and review of strategic planning, reporting and performance metrics.
• Coordinate organisation-wide planning and engagement to align priorities and reporting.
• Lead development of organisational performance and learning frameworks.
• Provide technical assistance on planning, data collection, instrument development, analysis and reporting.
• Promote knowledge sharing to support learning across the organisation.
• Collaborate with Senior Executives to leverage data analytics for impact assessment.
• Monitor developments in performance measurement and public sector accountability.
