Job summary

Waverley Council in Bondi Junction seeks a Finance Planning & Systems Manager to lead the administration, optimisation and continuous improvement of financial systems and governance. You will manage annual budgets, long-term financial planning and provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making.

The role reports to the Executive Manager, Finance, and requires CA/CPA qualifications, strong leadership, and extensive experience with financial systems and reporting tools.

Qualifications

• Degree and CA or CPA qualification in business/finance.
• Ability to provide financial advice to all management levels.
• Experience coordinating and consolidating budgets for a medium-sized organisation.
• Extensive experience with financial accounting systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to administer financial software and troubleshoot to keep systems efficient.
• Experience with Fixed Asset management.
• Strong governance, accounting standards and GST/FBT knowledge.
• Proven leadership and staff development ability.
• Commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of EEO and workplace health and safety.
• Experience with TechnologyOne or similar ERP is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Leading the administration optimisation and continuous improvement of Council’s financial management, operational systems and processes.
• Drafting council and executive financial reports and providing meaningful financial insights to support organisational performance and decision-making.
• Leading the annual budget development and long-term financial plan forecasts.
• Strengthening financial governance, controls, policies and practices.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, data quality and reporting capabilities.
• Working collaboratively with leaders and business areas to translate financial information into practical advice and actionable insights.
