Job summary

The University of Newcastle is seeking a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join our Financial Services team at Callaghan Campus. You will provide trusted financial advice across planning, investment, performance and long-term sustainability, translating numbers into actionable insights for leaders.

Working with portfolio leaders, you’ll shape budgets, forecasts and business cases, influence decision-making and help drive value across the University with strong stakeholder

Qualifications

• You’ll be a qualified or experienced finance professional who enjoys working with people as much as working with numbers.
• You’ll be confident analysing financial information and explaining its implications to senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leaders to understand priorities and provide practical financial advice that supports sound decision‑making.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting for your portfolio with insightful variance analysis.
• Translate complex financial information into meaningful insights using analysis and reporting to identify trends and opportunities.
• Build strong relationships across Financial Services and the wider University, connecting financial advice to operational priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working to make planning and reporting more efficient.
