Job summary

Downer Professional Services is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial management for Defence digital capability programs. You will provide budget oversight, forecasting, reporting and governance across complex ICT projects, partnering with Defence stakeholders and executives to ensure affordability and financial integrity.

Your role involves managing budgets, monitoring performance, advising on financial risk and supporting strategic planning to deliver tangible Defence

Qualifications

• Experience in financial management within the Australian Federal Government environment.
• Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting capability.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, scenario analysis and pivot tables.
• Experience supporting complex ICT acquisition, sustainment or large-scale program environments.
• Ability to interpret cost estimates, procurement profiles and work breakdown structures within financial management activities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to brief senior executives.

Responsibilities

• Manage project budgets, forecasts, expenditure reporting and financial records.
• Monitor financial performance against funding allocations and identify variances or risks.
• Oversee project commitments, contracts, purchase orders and financial obligations.
• Provide financial advice and reporting to support governance and decision-making.
• Collaborate with cost modelling specialists to identify pressures and affordability considerations.
