Job summary

Digital61 in Canberra is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead day-to-day finance operations, maintain financial integrity, and provide trusted insights for strategic decisions.

You will partner with the leadership team to manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, payroll, taxation, and compliance, while driving continuous improvement across processes, reporting, and governance in a growing technology services environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification (preferred).
• Demonstrated experience (3 to 5 years) as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, Finance Manager, or similar role.
• Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis capability.
• Experience working within professional services, technology, consulting, or managed services environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day finance function and accounting operations.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, management reporting, forecasts, and year-end financial information.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow activities.
• Deliver financial analysis and insights to support business decision‑making.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with financial delegations.
• Oversee payroll processing and financial administration activities.
• Support taxation, accounting standards compliance, and external auditor requirements.
• Provide commercial reporting and margin analysis for sales and managed services operations.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks and exposures.
• Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, systems, and reporting.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to finance team members.
