Job summary

Department of Transport and Planning in Melbourne is seeking a Director, Road Design Services to lead the design, governance and delivery of pavement, geotechnical, structural and civil road design across the branch.

You will report to the Head of Assets & Engineering, ensuring efficient design services, cost-effectiveness and high quality while overseeing SLAs and project income to sustain the branch. This is an executive contract for up to five years.

Qualifications

• Tertiary engineering qualification (mandatory).
• Appropriate industry experience in road engineering and design leadership (mandatory).
• Postgraduate qualification in engineering, business management, risk management or related discipline (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Deliver road design services including pavement, geotechnical, structural and civil design.
• Oversee fee-for-service and SLA arrangements to keep the branch sustainable.
• Collaborate with Assets & Engineering senior leadership to support planning and priorities.
• Provide leadership in design governance and team capability.
