Job summary

Bouygues Construction Australia seeks a Project Director to provide strategic leadership and overall accountability for delivering major civil infrastructure projects in Australia. You will set direction, governance and ensure safety, quality, programme, budget, and commercial performance are managed effectively.

You will lead the project leadership team, coordinate with clients, consultants and contractors, and ensure resources, controls and reporting meet objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related discipline
• Master’s Degree preferred in related discipline
• Extensive senior leadership experience delivering large or complex construction projects
• Proven oversight of project teams, budgets, programmes, contracts and commercial performance
• Strong understanding of project controls, procurement, risk management and contract administration
• Strategic leadership and sound decision-making
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster accountability and collaboration

Responsibilities

• Set the project’s strategic direction, objectives, governance, and delivery priorities.
• Lead the project leadership team and establish clear accountability, decision-making, and reporting processes.
• Maintain senior-level relationships with the client, consultants, contractors, authorities and other key stakeholders.
• Oversee delivery against approved scope, programme, budget, quality standards and contractual requirements.
• Review performance, forecasts, risks, opportunities and recovery plans; implement corrective actions.
• Lead management of significant project risks, changes, claims and commercial issues.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental and sustainability objectives are integrated into project planning and delivery.
• Coordinate design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover activities.
• Support resolution of major technical, commercial, contractual and stakeholder issues.
• Ensure effective project controls, reporting, document management and assurance processes.
• Provide timely updates to executive leadership and the client on status and emerging issues.
• Lead project completion and handover planning, including readiness and lessons learned.
