Job summary

National Museum of Australia in Canberra seeks an EL1 Communications Manager to lead Media & Communications and oversee the Social Media team. You will work with the Head of Public Affairs to develop and deliver strategic media plans, manage media relations, and craft compelling content to promote the Museum’s work and achievements.

You will coordinate communications campaigns, provide media training, and ensure safety and compliance while supporting a positive public profile for the Museum.

Qualifications

• Be an Australian citizen.
• Undergo pre-employment checks, including a police record check.
• Hold or be eligible to hold a security clearance as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver media, social media and communications activities for the Office of the Director.
• Provide strategic media advice to Head Public Affairs and business units.
• Write media releases, talking points, and background documents reflecting key messaging.
