HAYS is recruiting an EL1 Strategic Communications Manager in Canberra to lead strategic communications planning and delivery for major programs, provide high‑level advice to senior leaders, and translate complex information into clear, compelling narratives.

The role requires NV1 security clearance, offers a 12‑month contract (with option to extend), an attractive hourly rate, flexible working arrangements, and an office located in central Canberra. Local applicants only apply.

  • Lead strategic communications planning and delivery for major programs, announcements and initiatives.
  • Provide high-level communications advice to senior leaders and stakeholders, including Ministerial engagements and major project milestones.
  • Develop clear and engaging messaging on complex issues for diverse audiences.
  • Oversee external communications providers and campaigns.
  • Manage media, stakeholder and reputational risks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oversee the creation of communication products including speeches, media materials and executive briefs.
