Job summary

KBR’s Infrastructure Solutions Australia division is seeking a Senior Commercial Specialist to support our growing pipeline of defence, buildings and nuclear projects, based in Sydney or Adelaide.

You will lead contracting strategies, manage commercial activities, and collaborate with legal, procurement and project teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with contractors, sub-contractors and owners on defence or government infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of government and defence contracts.
• Experience in commercial management of infrastructure, engineering consulting, construction, or building projects.
• Proven ability to submit contractual notices, process variations, and manage extensions of time.
• Ability to liaise with internal departments and subcontractors to ensure cost tracking.
• High level of commercial acumen and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Develop contracting strategies for prime contracts, major subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Administer claims, variations, delays, and subcontract execution per strategy.
• Provide timely project information to the Project Manager for decisions.
• Support estimates development to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Contribute to change management processes to identify exposures and claims.
• Negotiate major subcontracts and flow down terms.
• Draft contractual correspondence including notices and entitlement letters.
• Monitor financial performance, risks, cash flow, and compliance with terms.
• Collaborate with legal, procurement, and other specialists for claims.
• Contribute to training, tools, procedures, and lessons learned.
