Job summary

South32's Worsley Alumina Refinery in WA seeks a Principal Category professional to lead category management and high-value negotiations. This permanent role operates on a 9-day fortnight and sits near Collie and coastal towns.

You will develop strategic sourcing plans, manage supplier relationships and ensure contract alignment with business needs. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and have proven experience in procurement, contracts and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar Category role within Commercial / Supply, preferably mining or heavy industry.
• Skilled in developing commercial strategies and leading high value strategic negotiations.
• Knowledge and understanding of category management principles and contract law.
• Proven ability in building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, supply chain management, procurement, law, or related field - (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute commercial strategy for category goods and services sourced externally to ensure business continuity and optimal commercial outcomes
• Monitor existing contracts and portfolio of suppliers supporting the business ensuring optimal usage & performance against business expectations, executing contract variations as required
• Execute sourcing activities (including tender preparation and management) and contract negotiations, in alignment with Supply standards and procedures
• Lead and manage complex contractual negotiations with key strategic suppliers, closely coordinating with legal counsel, management, and internal customers
• Ensures timely delivery of sourcing initiates aligned to the sourcing plan and in support of supply metrics
