Job summary

Finisar Australia is a leading high-technology manufacturer specialising in advanced optical communications products. Based in Sydney, we manage receiving, warehousing and material control to support production and engineering teams.

As a Stores/Materials operator, you will handle ERP-based receiving, batch numbering, and material transfers, while ensuring clean, compliant processes and safe forklift operation in a busy environment. Join a team focused on quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and practical experience of ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
• Capability to drive processes improvement using Lean tools (5S, lean, six sigma).
• Strong IT skills to generate reports and analyse data.
• Excellent spoken and written English communication.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management in warehouse/production.
• Ability to manage staff and personnel issues.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience in receiving, put away, picking and dispatch processes; forklift operation.

Responsibilities

• Receiving of materials in Oracle.
• Batch and part numbering.
• Transferring materials between Sub-Inventories.
• Picking and processing of Production and Engineering Work Orders.
• Issuing of materials to Production and to Engineering.
• Maintain an organised and tidy stores areas.
• Using technology to ensure Finisar processes are followed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Receiving of materials in Oracle
• Batch and part numbering
• Transferring materials between Sub-Inventories
• Picking and Processing of Production and Engineering Work Orders
• Issuing of materials to Production
• Issuing of materials to Engineering
• Maintain an organised and tidy stores areas
• Using the technology provided to ensure Finisar processes are always adhered to
• Operation of Forklift

Education and necessary skills:

Strong knowledge and practical experience of ERP systems, preferably Oracle

Strong capabilities with processes improvement, change engagement and implementation (5S, lean, 6 sigma)

Strong IT skills to generate reports and analyse data

Good command of spoken and written English with the ability to deliver clear and succinct communication

Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principals

Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality management systems in a warehouse/production environment

Ability to manage staff and personnel issues

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Necessary Skills & Experience
