Job summary

Hamilton Island Enterprises on Hamilton Island, QLD, seeks an experienced IGA Store Manager to lead a high-volume store with a close-knit team and regular guests. You’ll own store performance, merchandising, and people development while delivering an exceptional shopping experience for residents and holidaymakers alike.

You’ll drive budgets, manage stock and costs, and ensure food safety and cleanliness across operations. This is a permanent, full-time role on-site with island perks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as Grocery Store Manager or similar in a high-volume supermarket.
• Food Safety Supervisor certificate.
• Solid knowledge of food safety legislation and standards.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a team.
• Strong budgeting, P&L, inventory and stock-control experience.
• Experience managing rosters, recruitment, training and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily supermarket operations, creating a welcoming, reliable shopping experience for residents, employees and guests.
• Drive commercial performance through budgeting, profit and loss management, stock control and cost management.
• Keep the store looking its best through thoughtful merchandising, product ranging and well-stocked shelves.
• Inspire and develop your team, setting clear expectations and building a culture of teamwork and accountability.
• Manage rosters, recruitment, onboarding, training and performance reviews.
• Oversee inventory ordering, payroll, reconciliations and cash handling in line with company procedures.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness and workplace safety.
• Stay close to the operation, stepping in alongside your team to serve customers and replenish stock when needed.

To be successful, you’ll need:

• A minimum of three years’ experience as a Grocery Store Manager or in a similar role within a high-volume supermarket
• A valid Food Safety Supervisor certificate
• Comprehensive knowledge of food safety legislation and standards
• Demonstrated success leading, developing and motivating a team
• Strong commercial skills across budgets, profit and loss reporting, inventory and stock control
• Experience managing rosters, recruitment, training and performance

Experience in any of the following is highly regarded:

• Previous experience within an IGA supermarket
• Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as a Diploma in Business
• Merchandising and product ranging expertise
