The Department of Transport and Planning in Victoria is seeking a Statutory Planner to protect and enhance the transport network by providing sound statutory planning advice, reviewing referrals, Transport Impact Assessment Reports, and assessing strategic land use decisions.

About The Role

The purpose of this role is to protect and enhance the transport network through the provision of sound statutory planning advice including review of planning referrals, Transport Impact Assessment Reports, and assessment of strategic level land use decisions including input to Municipal Strategic Statements and Planning Scheme Amendments.

  • Applies strong critical thinking and professional judgement, interpreting planning processes, DTP guidelines, Austroads and Australian Standards to resolve complex issues and make informed decisions.
  • Builds strong stakeholder relationships, confidently influencing and negotiating with government, industry and community stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes.
  • Brings specialist precinct, statutory planning and engineering expertise, using professional judgement and modelling to assess planning applications and inform decision-making.
  • Takes a future-focused and adaptable approach, considering broader impacts, embracing new technologies and responding positively to changing priorities.
  • Works collaboratively and with purpose, engaging others, sharing information and connecting day-to-day work with strategic objectives and community outcomes.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Experience in statutory planning, traffic engineering or transport planning
  • Degree qualified in Planning or Engineering or five years minimum technical experience in an appropriate field.
  • Driver’s Licence
