Job summary

Randstad is seeking a Payroll Officer to own end-to-end payroll processes in a standalone capacity for ANZ entities, with NZ exposure and a focus on accuracy and compliance. The role is based in Sydney CBD within a high-performance, development-focused culture.

You will manage fortnightly payroll runs, review timesheets, ensure compliance with Australian awards, and support HR administration while partnering with store managers and regional teams.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience managing full payroll cycles end-to-end.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills to confidently work with managers on payroll queries.
  • Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation, tax regulations, and Modern Awards.
  • Exposure to NZ payroll frameworks is desired.
  • Comfortable working with manual spreadsheets (intermediate Excel) and navigating HRIS or timekeeping software.
  • Strong organisational logic to manage manual inputs and refine processing steps.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the fortnightly pay runs across ANZ entities, including monthly commission calculations and incentive payouts.
  • Review and validate timesheets and timekeeping inputs, liaising directly with store managers to resolve variations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the General Retail Award, local employment contracts, STP, multi-state payroll tax, superannuation, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Administer New Zealand payroll compliance, including PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC levies, and loan deductions.
  • Prepare monthly General Ledger reconciliations, cost-centre allocations, headcount reports, and international financial summaries for overseas regional management.
  • Process new starters, probation changes, salary updates, and complex termination or leave liability calculations.
  • Provide light, ad-hoc HR administration support and employee masterfile updates in tandem with the HR team.

Standalone Payroll officer | Permanent | Sydney CBD

We are partnering with an esteemed global luxury retail brand that represents some of the world's most prestigious items. Known for their high-performance culture and commitment to employee development, their Sydney CBD head office is seeking an autonomous and detail-oriented Payroll professional to take full operational ownership of their end-to-end payroll function.

This position is ideal for a proactive payroll professional who enjoys possesses strong numerical reasoning, and enjoys building genuine relationships with managers to streamline processes.
