Job summary

Randstad in Sydney CBD is seeking a standalone Payroll Officer to take full ownership of end-to-end payroll for ANZ entities and NZ payroll compliance. You will liaise with store managers, ensure compliance with Australian awards and tax rules, and support HR administration.

The role suits a proactive payroll professional with strong numerical ability and relationship-building skills. A permanent, full-time position with a clear ownership of a core function.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year end-to-end payroll experience in Australia.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage with store managers on payroll queries.
• Solid knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, tax rules and Modern Awards.
• Exposure to NZ payroll frameworks preferred.
• Proficient with spreadsheets and HRIS/timekeeping software.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage manual inputs and refine processing steps.

Responsibilities

• Manage the fortnightly pay runs across ANZ entities, including monthly commission calculations and incentive payouts.
• Review and validate timesheets and timekeeping inputs, liaising with store managers to resolve variations.
• Ensure adherence to the General Retail Award, local employment contracts, STP, multi-state payroll tax, superannuation, and Workers' Compensation.
• Administer New Zealand payroll compliance, including PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC levies, and loan deductions.
• Prepare monthly General Ledger reconciliations, cost-centre allocations, headcount reports, and international financial summaries for overseas regional management.
• Process new starters, probation changes, salary updates, and complex termination or leave liability calculations.
• Provide light HR administration support and employee masterfile updates with HR.

Known for their high-performance culture and commitment to employee development, their Sydney CBD head office is seeking an autonomous and detail-oriented Payroll professional to take full operational ownership of their end-to-end payroll function.

This position is ideal for a proactive payroll professional who enjoys possesses strong numerical reasoning, and enjoys building genuine relationships with managers to streamline processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the fortnightly pay runs across ANZ entities, including monthly commission calculations and incentive payouts.
• Review and validate timesheets and timekeeping inputs, liaising directly with store managers to resolve variations.

What we are looking for

• At least 1 year practical experience in managing full-function end-to-end payroll cycles.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills to confidently work with managers on payroll queries.
• Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation, tax regulations, and Modern Awards
• Exposure to NZ payroll frameworks is desired.
• Comfortable working with manual spreadsheets (intermediate Excel) and navigating complex HRIS or timekeeping software.
• Strong organisational logic to manage manual inputs and refine processing steps cleanly.
