Job summary

Randstad is seeking a senior payroll leader to oversee ANZ payroll operations across multiple Australian offices. The role is hybrid with a permanent full-time commitment, offering leadership of a payroll team, safeguarding SLA compliance, and driving process improvements.

Open to candidates nationwide, with up to a$160,000+super, and 2 days work from home. The successful candidate will manage complex payroll computations, tax and superannuation considerations, and onboarding for new clients,

Qualifications

• 7+ years ANZ payroll experience.
• Expert knowledge of Australian & NZ payroll, tax, and superannuation.
• Experience leading payroll teams in outsourcing or BPO services.
• Strong problem solving and escalation handling.
• Experience onboarding payroll software for new clients.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted payroll advisor to ANZ clients and manage SLA delivery.
• Lead, coach and mentor a regional payroll team.
• Review payroll computations, bank submissions, and returns for accuracy.
• Analyze discrepancies and design preventive workflows and SOPs.
• Oversee onboarding, setup and database configuration for new clients.

Job description

The role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide | Hybrid | Permanent Full time Position

Key Responsibilities

• Client & SLA Delivery: Act as a trusted payroll advisor to ANZ clients, maintaining relationship health, attending client meetings, and ensuring strict compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, coach, and guide a team of payroll specialists. Support their professional development and assist them with complex client communications and escalations.
• Operational Control: Review payroll computations, bank submission files, annual returns, and tax/superannuation lodgments to maintain exceptional accuracy across all client portfolios.
• Conflict Resolution & Continuous Improvement: Analyze root causes of payroll discrepancies, design preventive solution diagrams/SOPs, and continuously refine operating procedures.
• Implementations & Governance: Manage the setup and database configuration (payroll, leave rules, custom pay structures) for new onboarding clients, collaborating with HQ on bank file authorizations.

What We Are Looking For

• Outsourcing Industry Pedigree: Proven experience working inside a payroll bureau, BPO, or managed services firm servicing external client accounts.
• 7+ Years ANZ Payroll Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Australian & New Zealand payroll processing, tax, superannuation, KiwiSaver, STP Phase 2, and Modern Award/EBA interpretations.
• Proven Leadership Skills: Demonstrated success in managing, developing, and inspiring regional payroll specialists in a fast-paced delivery environment.
• Solutions-Oriented Mindset: Strong ability to de-escalate client issues, resolve complex calculation errors, and establish preventive workflows under tight deadlines.
• Implementation Track Record: Hands-on experience executing new payroll software onboardings and client database builds from scratch.
• Permanent full time position
• Offering up to $160,000 + Super (can go slightly more based on experience)
• Open to be located anywhere in Australia as they have multiple offices
• 2 days work from home
